Certified Responsible Government Auditor (CRGA) Credential

Public Sector Audit Institue (PSAI) and Parker CPE Partnership for Certified Responsible Government Auditor (CRGA) Exams

Parker CPE, in association with the Public Sector Audit Institute (PSAI), is excited to announce a new initiative to reshape the future of government auditing education. This effort is poised to roll out an advanced training program tailored for government auditors, preparing them to sit for the Certified Responsible Government Auditor (CRGA) exams, a respected credential that acknowledges the specialized skills required to be a proficient government auditor.

CRGA candidates are required to pass two extensive exams: the Government Auditing Standards and the Government Internal Control Standards. These exams cover essential domains like government auditing practices, skills and techniques, and internal control standards, affirming the candidate's mastery in both foundational and advanced auditing principles.

CRGA Exam Requirements

  • Requirements

To ensure that candidates possess the foundational knowledge required for the Certified Responsible Government Auditor (CRGA) certification, the Public Sector Audit Institute (PSAI) has established specific eligibility criteria. Prospective candidates fall into one of two categories: First, college students actively pursuing a career in accounting are eligible to sit for the exam, reflecting PSAI's commitment to fostering the next generation's interest in government auditing. Alternatively, candidates must hold a four-year post-secondary degree or higher.

  • Exams Structure

The CRGA certification process is bifurcated into two pivotal exams:

    1. Government Auditing Standards Exam

    2. Government Internal Control Standards Exam

The two links above are to the exam syllabi—a list of subject areas covered by each examination. It is a core document for all CRGA candidates and should be a starting point for understanding the content of the exams.

  • Requirements

Candidates must currently be employed by a government audit organization (including contractor roles) or possess at least one year of prior experience within such an organization. However, college students actively pursuing a career in accounting are eligible to sit for the exam without having met the work experience requirement, reflecting PSAI's commitment to fostering the next generation's interest in government auditing.

Parker CPE's CRGA Exam Prep Sessions are designed to provide an immersive learning experience. From Tuesday to Thursday, participants undergo rigorous sessions, diving deep into the Government Auditing Standards and the Government Internal Control Standards. This culmination of preparation leads to the exams on Friday, allowing candidates to apply freshly reviewed knowledge.

This strategic endeavor echoes the increasing demand for enhanced transparency, accountability, and dedication in the public sector. "Government auditors are the pillars of public sector transparency. This association with PSAI underscores our mission to nurture these professionals, facilitating their journey to attain the esteemed CRGA credential," comments Parker Skaats, CPA, from Parker CPE.

Apart from the comprehensive curriculum, the course offers the distinctive benefit of taking the certification exams immediately after training, at no additional cost, ensuring concepts are fresh in the candidates' minds, optimizing their chances of success.

Additionally, Parker CPE offers study guides tailored for both the Government Auditing Standards and the Government Internal Control Standards exams. These guides serve as valuable road maps to understanding intricate concepts with clarity and providing essential practice questions reflective of the actual exam. As an added advantage, purchasing the study guide bundle covers the costs for a candidate's first attempt at both exams, streamlining their preparation-to-certification journey.
